The Yacht Club Costa Smeralda has officially opened registrations for the Sardinia Cup 2026, taking place from 31 May to 7 June 2026. The Pre-Notice of Race is available online here, containing full details on taking part along with the registration form.

Teams composed of two boats representing the same yacht club may compete, with one yacht entered in each of the classes: Sardinia Cup Class 1 and Sardinia Cup Class 2.

Each participating boat must meet the class parameters indicated in the Pre-NOR and listed below, developed in collaboration with the Royal Ocean Racing Club (RORC) and aligned with the criteria that will be used for the 2027 Admiral's Cup.

In addition, each crew must include at least one female sailor and one youth sailor under the age of 25, in keeping with the YCCS' commitment to promoting the participation of women and young people in offshore sailing.

Registrations for the Sardinia Cup 2026 will remain open until 15 April 2026. Team nationality will be determined based on the location of the yacht club represented.

The Sardinia Cup 2026 programme will see racing get under way on 2 June with an opening coastal race, followed by an offshore race of approximately 150 nautical miles (estimated duration 24 hours). Two days of windward-leeward races and an additional coastal race will follow, before the final prize-giving ceremony on 7 June.

The Sardinia Cup, established in 1978 and strongly supported by then Commodore Gianfranco Alberini, returns after its last edition in 2012. The event, which helped establish the YCCS as a reference point in international yachting, was originally designed to alternate in even-numbered years with the Admiral's Cup, the prestigious British competition which made its return to the racing calendar this year.

The Pre-Notice of Race and Entry Form are available online on the YCCS website here.
