We were thrilled to have hosted the students from Manteo Middle School's carpentry elective class at Bayliss Boatworks for a behind-the-scenes look at their very own 16 ft Bayliss skiff jig being cut!

During their visit, the students toured every corner of our facility, from hull construction and cabinetry, to our metal shop, finished engine rooms, and design office. The highlight of the tour was watching the final pieces of the jig being cut for the upcoming boat project that these students will be building themselves in the classroom.

Dare County has a rich legacy of boatbuilding and being able to partner with Dare County Schools to share our passion with the next generation of builders, designers, and engineers is an honor. Thank you to the students and staff of Manteo Middle School for visiting, we can't wait to see your project take shape!
