There is no doubt that the Sanctuary Cove International Boat Show is different. Set within the marina complex shops, the exhibitors' stands line the walkways to the marina berths, while a huge marquee provides cover for a large percentage of industry exhibits for those not wanting to risk possible intrusion from the elements.
They had nothing to worry about this year and from all accounts the show was highly successful. Organisers said 2018 was one of the biggest Shows yet, with 180 boats on water and 275 boats on land across The Marine Village precincts, along with more than 300 individual exhibitors on Show. SCIBS general manager Johan Hasser said exhibitors reported a successful four days across the board, with many securing record sales and promising leads to follow up post-Show.
Two of Australia's largest boat builders, Riviera and Maritimo both reported favourable outcomes. Maritimo has had its most successful boat show in a decade at this weekend's Sanctuary Cove International Boat Show with sales in excess of its all-time record of $37 million prior to the GFC. The sales rush in the past four days puts Maritimo ahead of the $37 million record on the last day of the show and that figure is set to increase further as deals are finalised over coming days.
The seventh annual Riviera Festival of Boating concluded on Sunday after four days of boating educational workshops and social functions for more than 1,200 Riviera and Belize owners and their families. A strong focus on education over the four days saw guests attend 40 individual seminars and workshops, ranging from weather forecasting and voyage planning to radar systems, maintenance and meal preparation. Riviera owners Jason Squire and Colin Crisp impressed at seminars sharing their experiences of extended offshore cruising.
Remaining in the northern state, South East Queensland will be host to the 2018 Annual Yacht Managers Forum with events planned for both the Gold Coast and Brisbane. Yacht and Boat Club Managers will spend three days from Monday 4th to Wednesday 6th June visiting multiple venues including Royal Queensland Yacht Squadron in Manly and Southport Yacht Club's four venues at Main Beach, Hollywell, Dux on South Stradbroke and Oxenford Watersports Centre. Such event gives the opportunity for like-minded business professionals to discuss the industries current market position, upcoming ideas, investments and trend changes.

Meanwhile in the USA the GOST® (Global Ocean Security Technologies), announced that its GOST Nav-Tracker 1.0 tracking system lead to the safe recovery of a 34-foot Regulator after the boat was stolen in Miami Beach, Florida.
From the time the boat began moving until it was recovered, only 49 minutes passed, setting a new record for speed of recovery. The previous record was 54 minutes, set in 2009. Gost have a number of distributors in Australia.
