Baby Bar Crusher built to tackle big seas

The limited-edition Apache 610 is selling fast Sandman PR
Although the smallest model in the company’s Hard Top range, the 20-footer has been built with maximum strength to tackle big seas and take bigger boats to task.
Heavy duty, pre-stressed plate aluminium is used in the construction – 4mm for the underbody and 3mm for the topsides – and there’s a 'Rigideck' sub-floor frame and treadplate deck to impart even more toughness.
Bar Crusher claims that its unique Waveslicer deep-vee hull shape delivers the smoothest ride of any aluminium boat on the market, so chop should cause no problems for the construction or crew.
Quickflow water ballast, in the form of a keel cavity that fills when the boat is stationary, lowers the chines into the brine for greater stability then drains in seconds as the boat moves forward, allowing it to leap effortlessly onto the plane.
The 610HT's toughened safety glass windscreen and all-weather hard top allow standing room at the helm, while the cockpit has plenty of fishing space. The dash is designed to accept large-screen marine electronics displays, be they flush or bracket-mounted.
Rated to carry up to a 150hp outboard, the 610HT has a 140-litre fuel capacity, optional anchor winch and forward bunks (with optional bunk extensions).
Meanwhile, at last count there was only 15 boats remaining in the limited edition run of the Bar Crusher 610 Apache, a rig designed to mark the builder’s 10th anniversary.
With only 50 to be built, the Apache features a distinctive colour scheme – black sides and US aircraft grey deck. Deluxe seats are fitted as standard, and the cabin, roof and rear cockpit are all carpet lined.
In keeping with the aggressive appearance, the custom-built Easytow trailer is painted black and sports low-profile mags. Outboards in the 115-150hp range can be fitted – I’d be opting for at least 130hp.
Among a long list of fishing features are rod holders, livebait tank, in-floor fish tank, berley bucket, storage pockets and a checkerplate deck. The cuddy cabin has a folding roof (with gas struts) to help with storage under carports and in garages.
As an aside, Bar Crusher recently achieved CE certification for its range, and in line with the ISO standard for compliance the company has changed its model numbers to reflect overall length – the 610, for example, was formerly tagged the 560.
