The Boating Industry Association Ltd (BIA) today launched the call for nominations for the 2024 Sustainability in the Boating Industry Award.

BIA CEO Andrew Scott said this national award was open to the wider industry across Australia.

"The Sustainability in the Boating Industry Award was established to recognise the outstanding contributions being made by industry for industry and the public," Scott said.

"Boating matters and so does our industry which last year turned over $9.64 billion and employed more than 32,000 people across the entire sector.

"Sustainability is one of the core values of the BIA and we have amazing contributions being made across the industry, and this is our opportunity to celebrate these efforts."

Nominations are now open for the Award and the winner will be announced at the Sydney International Boat Show in August. Nominees will be assessed on their achievements in reducing environmental impacts through actions such as use of sustainable materials and manufacturing processes, contributing to emissions reduction, and/ or implementing sustainable business practices.

The award recognises companies or individuals who have demonstrated outstanding efforts in contributing towards sustainable business practices and/ or supporting the sustainability of boating.

A guide to nominations for the award are available on the BIA website and must be returned by 3 July 2024.

Last year's winner of the Award was GoBoat with its efforts to apply sustainability practices in the domestic manufacture and operation of a fleet of full electric-drive hire boats in Australia. Click here for details.
