For the IRC classes, Thursday's racing traditionally comprises two windward leeward races for the QE2 Cup, starting and finishing was offshore from the Committee Boat.

Conditions were blustery with the winds building from 20 knots through the day. The windward fair tide beats were heavy going into a short sea followed by lively and fast spinnaker legs. Unfortunately, the second race had to be cancelled as conditions deteriorated with an increasing wind and the tide turning, creating foul tide conditions.

Classes 4, 5 and 7 had just the one race today and were sent on similar courses of varying lengths out to Deal Dolphin. All classes enjoyed the testing conditions with very few retirements in the strengthening winds.
