Heesen has successfully sold YN 20750 Project Orion to an experienced yacht owner introduced by Anton Foord of Ocean Independence. Project Orion marks a significant leap forward in seamlessly blending advanced engineering, eco-friendly innovation, and ultimate superyacht luxury.

Designed to offer an unparalleled yachting experience, this remarkable vessel boasts a host of standout features:

Project Orion highlights | YN 20750

  • Hybrid & Silent Cruising: Silent cruising up to 10 knots with flexible power management and enhanced onboard comfort and efficiency.
  • Eco-Conscious Design: A reduced carbon footprint is achieved through an ultra-efficient hull and lightweight aluminium construction for a reduced fuel consumption of up to 30 per cent
  • Dual Season Capability: Designed for versatility and perfect for the shallow waters of the Bahamas and the expansive Mediterranean.
  • Sophisticated Interiors: Flawless luxury with full marble bathrooms, a six-stateroom layout, and expansive, light-filled spaces.
  • Expert Craftsmanship: Utilising the world-leading expertise of Heesen in aluminium construction for unmatched weight control and efficiency.

Project Orion represents the third vessel in Heesen's advanced 50-metre Fast Displacement Hull Form (FDHF) aluminium series, equipped with cutting-edge hybrid propulsion. This innovative setup seamlessly integrate diesel mechanical and electrical power, significantly reducing noise and vibration while enhancing energy efficiency.

Powered by two MTU 12V 2000 M61 (IMO III) engines, each providing 600kW, Project Orion achieves a top speed of 16.3 knots and a transatlantic range of 3,750 nautical miles. Remarkably, at a cruising speed of 12 knots, fuel consumption is a mere 98 litres per hour, excluding hotel load, underscoring Heesen's commitment to sustainability without compromising luxury.

"We greatly appreciated the smooth and efficient sales process, as well as the collaboration with Anton Foord," said Ruud van der Stroom, Heesen's CCO. "From the initial discussions in January to the client's recent visit to the shipyard, it has been a rewarding journey. Now, we eagerly anticipate the yacht's delivery in mid-May."

With a shallow draft of just 2.15 metres, Orion effortlessly navigates both the crystal-clear waters of the Bahamas and the iconic coastlines of the Mediterranean, supporting both individual and dual-season cruising. This adaptability is a testament to Heesen's precision engineering and the yacht's meticulously optimised design by van Oossanen.

Project Orion's aesthetics, penned by Frank Laupman of Omega Architects, feature a striking vertical bow and expansive floor-to-ceiling windows, ensuring panoramic views and an elegant silhouette. Complementing this, renowned interior designer Cristiano Gatto has curated a contemporary, light-filled interior. Highlights include an owner's stateroom on the main deck, a full beam VIP suite, and versatile stateroom configurations optimally utilising the yacht's 499 GT internal volume.

Additionally, all fixed furniture and finishes are crafted by skilled artisans, utilising over 37 different materials, including high-gloss wood veneers, woven leather, and bespoke marble sourced from Italy. Italian brand Cadorin's artisan dark wood flooring and luxurious leather selections elevate the onboard experience.

"Orion is a testament to our unwavering commitment to advancing superyacht technology while seamlessly blending sustainability with luxury," added Ruud van der Stroom. "With our innovative hybrid solutions, we are setting new standards in energy efficiency and delivering an unparalleled, serene cruising experience."

"We are delighted to continue our close relationship with Heesen with this timely sale. ORION'S innovative technology, interior design and Heesen build quality were big drivers towards the successful sale, together with the shipyard's can-do approach," commented Toby Maclaurin, CCO of Ocean Independence.
