nlcomp's vertical brand combines offshore design and sustainable materials to revolutionise offshore sailing. Launch in autumn 2025.

Northern Light Composites (nlcomp), an Italian startup founded in 2019, has created the first fully recyclable sailboats with its rComposite patent, opening up new perspectives in the sustainability of high-impact sectors such as boating, energy and manufacturing.

Northern Light is nlcomp's vertical brand dedicated to the nautical world, born from the founders' experience in offshore sailing and the development of sustainable technologies in the field of composite materials, which will be responsible for the sale and promotion of boats. The launch of the first boat is planned for autumn 2025. The aim is to accelerate the adoption of sustainable practices in boat design and construction, with an approach that combines performance, sustainability and safety for boat owners. Each project is born from a deep knowledge of the sea and an innovative vision of production, based on the use of materials with a low environmental impact and solutions designed to last.

Northern Light's signature boats offer high performance, reliability and a reduced environmental impact, contributing to a safer and more respectful future for people who sail and the marine environment.

Northern Light officially presents the first renders of the Offshore 34 project, a racing yacht designed for offshore sailing. The result bears the signature of Gianluca Guelfi and Fabio D'Angeli - already known for Ambrogio Beccaria's Musa 40 - and Luca Rosetti's - and was created with the aim of combining performance, safety and sustainability thanks to the use of rComposite technology developed by nlcomp. The Offshore 34 is designed to meet the challenges of offshore sailing, offers high performance, ensures maximum safety for skippers and significantly reduces environmental impact. In fact, the hull will be built with nlcomp's thermoplastic technology to ensure a high-performance solution in line with the principles of circularity and industrial sustainability.

Born out of a passion for sailing and a desire to innovate, nlcomp is now one of the most advanced companies in sustainable boating and has extended the use of its patented rComposite technology to other strategic sectors, such as wind energy and industry.

The construction of the Offshore 34 prototype began in April 2025 and is documented through a series of videos posted on nlcomp's official social channels, which narrate every stage of production: from the making of the moulds to the infusion of the structural components.

The official renderings and the launch video, curated by the RNDR creative studio through the use of artificial intelligence tools, show clean lines, a powerful bow and volumes designed to cope with offshore sailing.

"We wanted a boat capable of combining the design vision of the best Italian offshore designers with innovation in sustainable materials. The result is a concept that represents a step into the future of ocean sailing," comments Fabio Bignolini, CEO & Co-Founder of nlcomp.

The Offshore 34 is the first cruiser racer launched under the Northern Light brand, with ocean sailor and former Mini Transat winner Luca Rossetti as testimonial. It represents the culmination of nlcomp's years of research and development and incorporates the most advanced sustainable technologies in the nautical industry:

  • hull made by infusion with nlcomp technology without the use of gelcoat;
  • structural composite interior and recarbon panels for non-structural components;
  • system developed by yachtpower.it that integrates an innovative supercapacitor storage unit instead of traditional lithium batteries, completely recyclable, rare-earth-free and highly reliable even in critical conditions.

The Offshore 34 project is funded by Invitalia's Smart&Start programme.
