LOOKOUT, the award-winning leader in AI marine vision, and Argo Navigation, the mobile charting app trusted by hundreds of thousands of cruisers and recreational boaters, today announced a technology partnership that creates a new category in marine navigation: routes that can see.

The water is fundamentally different from any road — currents shift, tides create hard gates at shoals and inlets, and debris fields multiply after storm surges and king tides. A route that's optimal at slack tide can be dangerous at max ebb. Every route planned on shore diverges the moment a boat leaves the dock. Argo lets boaters plan multi-stop routes from their phone, customized to their vessel's draft and height, with autorouting that calculates the shortest safe path. The U.S. Coast Guard recorded nearly 3,900 boating incidents in 2024, resulting in 556 fatalities and over 2,100 injuries. The leading causes — operator inattention, improper lookout, and inexperience — are precisely the human factors that LOOKOUT's AI perception is designed to address.
