Nominations are still open for the 2026 BIA Apprentice of the Year Awards, and there's just over two weeks left to put forward your outstanding apprentices before the deadline on 12 June 2026.

Nominate Now!

Apprentices are a cornerstone of our industry and have a vital role in the industry's ongoing success. These awards aim to recognise the exceptional contributions of apprentices to the marine industry and highlighting the importance of training and career development within the sector.

In 2026, the award is open to any current apprentice, or those who have completed training within the past 12 months a formal apprenticeship in the boating and marine industry, and are currently employed by a business operating in the boating, marine or related sectors.

The Apprentice of the Year Award is open to all marine industry businesses, BIA members and non-members.

State-specific recognitions will be awarded for Queensland, New South Wales, and South Australia, with an overall winner announced at the Sydney Boat Show in July.

Winners will be honoured with a trophy and certificate, along with a $500 Repco voucher to put towards tools for each State winner, whilst the overall winner will receive a $1000 Repco voucher as well as BIA sponsorship of a trip for two to the Australian Wooden Boat Festival in Tasmania next February.

We invite you to nominate your exceptional apprentices. Nominations will be evaluated based on their achievements, contributions to their employer, attitude, and willingness to learn and contribute to the industry.

Submit your nominations via the online form by 5pm 12 June 2026.

Let's celebrate the future of our industry by recognising and rewarding our outstanding apprentices!
