Last week, the California the California Fish and Game Commission acted on a series of petitions proposing new marine protected areas and changes to existing MPA boundaries and recreational fishing access.

These decisions followed years of review, scientific evaluation and public input.

ASA, CCA California and our various partners advocated for decisions to be made using sound science, follow the guidance of CA Dept. of Fish and Wildlife fisheries biologists and maintain access to sustainable recreational fishing practices. Ultimately, the Commission moved forward with a few petitions while declining others.
