Last week, almost 200 leaders from across the sportfishing industry joined ASA in Point Clear, Alabama for the 2026 Sportfishing Summit.

Throughout the week, ASA members, staff and guests discussed current and future challenges to recreational fishing and how our industry can position ourselves for success in 2027 and beyond. We also heard from keynote speakers, enjoyed multiple networking events and recognized two members of our community with well-deserved honors.

Congratulations to Angie Thompson, publisher of Fishing Tackle Retailer, for receiving the Women in Angling Inspire Award and Dr. Sean Powers of the University of South Alabama for being awarded the Gary J. Zurn Conservation Award.

The ASA Board of Directors also voted Jeff Kolodzinski of Johnson Outdoors chairman for 2027-28, and we thank Dan Ferris, owner of MidWest Outdoor Media, for his service as chair of the board for the past two years.

Next year's Summit will be held Nov. 1-4 in Amelia Island, Florida.
