The BIA are also campaigning against new boating fee increases in NSW. The boating sector is calling on the Minister for Transport to intervene and ask Transport for NSW to abandon its surprise plan to tax the boating public extra millions of dollars during a cost-of-living crisis. Transport for NSW's move to increase a wide range of boating fees from 1 July will deliver a windfall for the department in extra revenue. BIA spokesperson Neil Patchett says there are concerns about the way that Transport is claiming that these increases will only be modest for the majority and that they are necessary to fund the department's work in safety.

Also in NSW, the Marine Rescue NSW Deputy Commissioner Darren Schott has praised boaters across the state for heeding advice about monitoring weather and sea conditions last month resulting in the Service's quietest May since 2020. Marine Rescue NSW volunteers across the state completed 203 search and rescue missions last month, including 70 emergency responses with crews safely returning 363 people to shore. "It is extremely pleasing that boaters didn't put themselves or others at risk for a day on the water with numerous days of unfavourable weather last month," Deputy Commissioner Schott said.

Overseas a new agreement between Le Boat and Groupe Beneteau under their Delphia brand in Poland will see Europe's largest boat rental company invest over £100m into its international fleet over the next ten years. The deal will ensure travellers have an even greater range of options to choose from when planning their private boat rental vacation and provides innovation to the current charter market as it stands.

Of the 400 new Delphia boats slated to be built over the coming decade for Le Boat, 100 will be made in the next three years, including at least 25 in 2025. These orders will be a combination of the current Horizon range, plus 34 of a premium new one to two cabin boat, aptly named "Liberty" which will be launched in 2025.

Rudy's arrival at Southern Spars comes at a crucial time for the company. With sailing yachts becoming ever larger and potential superyacht and commercial ship owners growing more environmentally aware, there is a strong demand for simplified sailing systems. The DynaRig and AeroRig fulfil this gap perfectly.
