The Gold Coast is set to transform into a marine and lifestyle mecca for four days when the Southern Hemisphere's largest marine event, Sanctuary Cove International Boat Show (SCIBS), makes its stellar return. From 21-24 May, the legacy event will celebrate its 37th year with a pinnacle showcase of boating and marine innovation, boasting brand-new hospitality and entertainment experiences, and welcoming over 45,000 marine and lifestyle enthusiasts to the Gold Coast.
The Marina Industry Association (MIA) have announced that renowned maritime leader, boatbuilder, and ocean racing legend Mark Richards will deliver the closing keynote at the Marinas26 International Conference & Trade Exhibition, taking place 25-26 May at the RACV Royal Pines Resort. Mark (a marina owner) will share his insights on leadership and how marinas can evolve to provide the best services and facilities for the next generation of boaters.
The Australian Commercial Marine Group (ACMG) has announced that the Australian Commercial Marine Conference will travel to Cairns for a dedicated Great Barrier Reef Commercial Marine Conference, extending the event's national presence and bringing this important industry forum to the heart of the region. The half day conference will take place on 11 March and feature a program of industry presentations and discussions, concluding with a networking lunch.
BIA Marine Jobs and TAFE QLD have partnered to showcase the Coomera Marine Precinct and jobs and skill pathways. BIA is supporting the delivery of TAFE Queensland's Certificate II in Automotive Vocational Preparation (Marine Focus) and Certificate II in Engineering Pathways (Marine Focus) by providing industry-led experiences which enhance student learning and career exploration. These qualifications will be available for Year 11 students and are a stepping stone to Cert III apprenticeships.
Grand Banks Yachts proposed an interim dividend of 0.5 Singapore cent per ordinary share on the back of a 6.2% increase in revenue to S$71.4 million for the six months ended 31 December 2025 and a healthy net order book of S$144.7 million as at that date. The SGX Mainboard-listed luxury yacht builder of renowned Grand Banks, Palm Beach, and Eastbay brands said it secured orders for eight built-to-order boats and four trade-in/pre-owned boats during the period under review.
Yanmar Power Solutions is advancing the development of next-generation fuel compatible engines to help realize a decarbonized society. In anticipation of increased production of marine and land-use engines in the future, the company has acquired land in Amagasaki City, Japan. They plan to construct a new factory where activities such as test operation of marine hydrogen engines will be conducted. The new factory is scheduled to begin operations around March 2029.
