The pinnacle event of the annual Skiff and Nacra schedules has arrived: the 49er, 49erFX, and Nacra 17 World Championships. Stephanie Roble and Maggie Shea are on the water 3 months after Tokyo 2020, looking to stake their claim on the podium. Five additional American Teams are eager to compete against the world's best.

The Americans have been working together on site for the last two weeks acclimating to the conditions, collecting intel and identifying trends. "We've been logging the hours, collaborating as a team and working to fast-track the group's understanding of this venue," said US Sailing Team Head Coach, Luther Carpenter.

On Oman's tricky conditions, second place finisher in the recent Asian Championships, Ian MacDiarmid, said "the breeze ranges from 5-10 knots which is right in the transition spot for the 49er. We constantly switch between a 'full-press' mode on the trapeze with bodies close to the water, and a more traditional displacement-style of sailing, staying light on our toes and adapting to the changes."
