Further details have reached us with regard to the largest boat show in Australia - the Sydney International Boat Show. The Boating Industry of Australia has announced the return of the Show from 28 July to 1 August 2022 at ICC Sydney and Cockle Bay in the world-renowned Darling Harbour.

The BIA have joined forces with Mulpha Events to deliver this iconic show, one of the biggest and most prestigious marine lifestyle events on the calendar. With over 240 exhibitors, 900 boats on display, a showstopping line-up of entertainment and activities, and 60,000 dedicated marine enthusiasts, this is an occasion not to be missed. SIBS will deliver an on-water display with over 200 boats, 32,600sqm of indoor exhibitor space and a 5,000sqm open-air activation on the Event Deck, producing the ideal platform to showcase your brand and connect with a highly engaged, qualified audience.

With retail activity across the boating industry at an all-time high, SIBS will celebrate the boating lifestyle, connect visitors with the best in marine brands, and continue to stimulate Australia's interest in all things aquatic. Exhibitor applications will open next Tuesday 8 March.

Meanwhile we are receiving details of exhibitor's plans for the Sanctuary Cove International Boat Show being staged in May. TMG in Queensland invite visitors to the show to view the high-performance and seaworthy Lagoon 46. She is designed for short-handed, enjoyable sailing with elegant lines, unrivalled brightness and generous, interconnected spaces.

They are also exhibiting the award-winning Lagoon Seventy 8. The yacht is over 24 metres and is designed by naval architects VPLP, Patrick Le Quément and Nauta Design. Luxury and comfort are the keywords with this vessel.

More news from a Sanctuary Cove exhibitor: "2022 is shaping up to be a record year for the Whitehaven Group," said Lee Randall, Business Development Manager. In all, the Whitehaven Group has a total of close to 40 vessels on the way, to every state including Tasmania. "We are really looking forward to the Sanctuary Cove International Boat Show in May, when we will have a range of new vessels on show and several major announcements."

The latest addition to the Whitehaven fleet, the 6800SY called 'CHANCE', is enjoying the final stages of detailing at The Boat Works on the Gold Coast ahead of delivery to her owners, who are totally besotted with their new arrival. "You know you've hit the spot when owners shed a tear," said Whitehaven Group Director, Bruce Scott.

In Sydney, Superyacht Australia, the peak body for the Australian Superyacht Industry, hosted the third annual Superyacht Soirée in partnership with Benetti Yachts and Musson Jewellers at Jones Bay Marina last Saturday, 26 February, welcoming a record number of participating vessels, sponsors and guests. The Superyacht Soirée concept was initiated in 2020 as a celebration of the passing of the Special Recreational Vessel (SRV) Act in December 2019, which gave the green light to international superyachts to enter Australia and provide additional capacity into this booming market. The Soirée is now Australia's largest superyacht luxury lifestyle event and a successful annual platform to showcase the superyacht industry in Sydney and promote charters to Australian destinations.

This year, the Superyacht Soirée included an impressive display of ten superyachts along Jones Bay Wharf with vessels open for viewing, providing over 340 Soirée guests with a unique opportunity to step aboard and inspect these stunning vessels. The superyachts showcased the ultimate in luxury boating and hospitality and whet the appetites of those considering chartering in Australian waters.

New launchings this week includes the leading Australian luxury motor yacht manufacturer Maritimo, who have continued to build on the momentum of its new model development strategy from 2021, with the arrival of the next instalment of the brand's emphasis on the large motor yacht sector, the new S75 sedan motor yacht. This yacht will take the mantle as the new flagship vessel within Maritimo's S-Series lineage, joining the S51, S55 and S60 Sedan motor yachts.

We promised to update the news on propulsion and this week ePropulsion, a market challenger in marine electric propulsion systems and services, has announced record sales revenue growth in 2021 and forecasts a strong outlook for 2022. Sales revenue increased 200% year-over-year in 2021, with over 15,000 units sold across the globe. The company estimates a further 100% growth rate in 2022 as more boat owners look to switch to more sustainable boating and convert to electric propulsion systems as commercial use and OEM applications grows.

Europe and North America continue to be the two largest growing markets for ePropulsion moving into 2022, with the United Kingdom, United States and Germany the leading countries, and the leisure marine sector accounting for the majority of sales. The company is continuing to expand its network globally with distributor appointments in Australia, South Korea, Thailand, Singapore and Serbia in the last few months.

And finally, from Victoria, Beneteau invite you to join them at the Gran Turismo Open Day this March 18th in Australia, organized by our dealer in the country, Sundance Marine and supported by Beneteau Asia Pacific. They will have three GT models on display: Gran Turismo 32 OB, Gran Turismo 36 IB and Gran Turismo 41 IB. Those models are the results of Beneteau's latest sport cruiser line renewal. A combination of power, practicality and elegance, they offer innovative design elements as well as top-level comfort. Key activities of the Open Day include on-board visits, sea trials and more. The spots available for sea trials are limited so register soon.

Stay safe,
