The Boating Industry Association Ltd (BIA) is urging all levels of Australian government to strategically back the nation's world-class marine manufacturing and recreational boating sector, warning that a critical skills shortage is threatening the industry's massive economic potential.

The call comes as BIA releases its latest industry data, highlighting the recreational marine sector's status as a major contributor to the national economy and one of Australia's leading recreational pastimes with millions participating annually.

BIA and Marine Jobs were invited by Queensland Government to exhibit at Indo Pacific International Maritime Exposition. Taking place at the ICC Sydney, the event showcases Queensland's Defence marine sector capabilities of which skills and training are key capabilities. Attending this event has enabled BIA and Marine Jobs to meet key Defence supply chain businesses which include engineering, refit and repair, construction, communications and control systems as well as shipyards and slipways.

Planning to attend Marinas26? The MIA has prepared a Business Case support document to help you clearly demonstrate the value of participation to your organisation. Headquartered in Drummoyne, Boatology's decision to represent Evo Yachts is based on the brand's appealing combination of innovation, style and functionality.

Marine Rescue Bermagui calls for more volunteers to help save lives at sea. Saving lives on the water is Marine Rescue Bermagui Unit Commander Jim Anderson's main mission but he's equally focused on growing the unit's volunteer numbers. The South Coast unit currently has 32 volunteers, which Anderson admits is a little on the lean side. He's encouraging more community members to join the service and help keep local waterways safe.
